As CoCoon continues to hatch its ambitious mission, this first deliverable stands as a testament to the project's dedication to shaping a more sustainable and eco-conscious future through education and design.

Lisbon, Portugal - The CoCoon project, an ambitious initiative supported by the Erasmus+ program, has achieved a significant milestone with the release of its first deliverable. This initial deliverable focuses on Biodesign Policies and Bio-Definitions, setting the stage for the project's broader goals.

The document provides a comprehensive introduction to Design and Nature, delves into the study of Policy, and outlines the framework of Design Policies. The report's main purpose is to map, cluster, analyze, and synthesize information related to biodesign policies and bio-definitions. To conduct a comprehensive examination of these primary biodesign definitions, the CoCoon project team undertook a systematic literature review. This data is crucial for Work Package 5 of the project, which is focused on developing biodesign policies and bio-definitions for CoCoon's educational and vocational training programs, as well as its open access bio fab labs.

One key aspect covered in the publication is the examination of biodesign policies. The report starts by mapping existing design policies and subsequently identifies the gaps that need to be addressed to create a policy suitable for biodesign. This step is essential to ensure that CoCoon can effectively integrate biodesign practices into education and design curricula.

The second focal point of the report is bio-design definitions. It provides a chronological mapping of the evolution of bio-related terms and their significance in the field of biodesign. By tracing the development of terms such as Biodesign, Biofabrication, Biomimicry, Bio-circular, and Biomimetics over time, the report offers valuable insights into the project's objectives and the desired outcomes it aims to achieve.

The release of this first deliverable marks a significant step forward for the CoCoon project. It sets the stage for the development of innovative biodesign modules for education and vocational training programs, as well as the establishment of bio design labs that will play a crucial role in fostering sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.

As CoCoon continues to hatch its ambitious mission, this first deliverable stands as a testament to the project's dedication to shaping a more sustainable and eco-conscious future through education and design.

In the words of Leonardo Da Vinci, "Learn from nature: that is where our future lies."
