DESCRIPTION

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is a centre for research, education, production and outreach, with the mission of envisioning the future habitat of our society and building it in the present. IAAC is an experimental and experiential centre where one learns by doing, through a test methodology that promotes real solutions.

The Advanced Architecture Group (AAG), one of four departments at IAAC, is an interdisciplinary research group investigating emerging technologies of information, interaction and manufacturing for the design and transformation of the cities, buildings and public spaces.

AAG investigates emerging technologies of Computation and Digital Manufacturing combined with scientific advancements from the fields of Data Science, Biology, Material Science, Ecology and Robotics. In addition, AAG works on redefining the paradigm of design education in the Information and Experience Age.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Type of education provided – Masters for Professionals and Life Wide Learning: IAAC is an interdisciplinary centre for education and research investigating emerging technologies of information, interaction and manufacturing for the design and transformation of the cities, buildings and public spaces. IAAC provides a wide offer of masters for professionals accredited by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (e.g. Master in Advanced Architecture, Master in City and Technology, Master in Robotics and Advanced Construction, Master in Advanced Computation for Architecture & Design). Moreover it periodically organises Life Wide Learning workshops to develop specific skills for professionals in the field of design.

Expertise in Design with Living Systems: IAAC is involved in several EU projects where is developing innovative education courses, research and implementation projects related to Nature Based Solutions (e.g. Urbinat – H2020, Build Solutions – Erasmus+, Green Skills for Cities – Erasmus+, Creative Food Cycles – Creative Europe)
